April 2011
Improvements in clinical development programs by dose estimation in respiratory clinical trials
Gauting, April 4, 2011 – Inamed presented a poster at the DIA Europe in Geneva in early April.
Correct dosage is critical in successful drug development. In respiratory trials the nominal dose of inhalation devices is well established, but the delivered dose to the patient is an unknown due to the breathing manoeuvre of each subject.
Delivered dose can vary from 5% to 90% of the nominal dose, causing wide variability in outcomes. Are adverse events related to the study medication or to unexpected overdosing?
Is the lack of a “positive signal” actually related to inadequate dose delivery? A validated and innovative method for estimating deposited dose is illustrated by comparison to results of a clinical trial.
Due to the great response Inamed decided to publish the poster here on the website for download.
